Insulate Hampshire
Insulate Hampshire
‘Insulate Hampshire’ is a new area based insulation scheme aiming to save residents money on their energy bills and keep homes warm and comfortable and is coming soon to the Winchester district.
The scheme, backed by Hampshire County Council, Winchester City Council and eleven other district, borough and city councils was launched in July. The scheme is being managed by Yorkshire Energy Services (YES) and funding is being provided by Scottishpower. Three insulation companies – A&M, Miller Pattison and Dyson – have been awarded the contracts to install the insulation. The scheme is initially to be ‘rolled out’ in Weeke but is open to all homeowners and private sector tenants (subject to approval from landlords) in the Winchester district. The scheme will help protect people against the cold, cut household fuel bills and reduce carbon dioxide emissions as well as create new jobs in Hampshire’s local economy.
Homeowners and private sector tenants can call the scheme Hotline now on 0800 952 0037 to register an interest or visit www.insulatehampshire.co.ukfor more information.
With loft insulation at £99 and cavity wall insulation at £75 for the first 5000 suitable homes to sign up to the scheme and £99 thereafter, the scheme is expected to improve 20,000 Hampshire households, enabling Hampshire residents to cut their household bills by £300 a year, saving 1.5 tonnes of CO2. Some people in certain circumstances will also benefit from completely free home insulation.
Insulate Hampshire advisors will always provide a free phone number for residents to call and check advisors are expected in their area. Residents will receive both a leaflet and letter from Insulate Hampshire prior to anyone visiting their area and Insulate Hampshire Advisors will all have suitable ID and orange coloured branded Insulate Hampshire uniforms. No Insulate Hampshire advisor should enter a resident’s home at the initial sales visit. It is only once a resident has signed up to the scheme and a technical survey is required that any one will need to enter a home.
If a resident is unsure of the person at their door they can also call Hampshire County Council on 01962 833666 or the police on their non emergency number 0845 045 45 45.
